Prototype Tours

The following are the Prototype Tour offerings for the HN2009 convention.

1. Acela - www.amtrak.com - A ride on the Acela from Boston, MA to Providence, RI a portion of this trip is among the fastest that the Acela reaches 150 mph. We will bus to Boston's South Station tour the engine then ride to Providence  bus back to Hartford.


2. Danbury Rail Museum - www.Danbury.org/drm - A bus tour to Danbury, CT it to see the vintage Danbury station and New Haven Equipment, the tours will be guided by New Haven historians and modelers.


3. Essex Dinner Trains - www.essexsteamtrain.com - on board dinners for 100 at a time, Monday (Early Registration Hartford Express has priority,  only – very limited seating for others), and Tuesday evening.   On your own Day trips, no dinner,  are available.


4. Naugatuck RR/Railroad Museum Of New England- www.rmne.org - the Naugy is a true ride in the Connecticut country side. Thomaston to Waterbury vintage New Haven.

5. The Shoreline Trolley Museum - www.bera.org - a bus tour to see and ride on their vintage restored equipment, including old subway cars in addition to trolleys.


6. Central New England Railroad -  A special passenger train on the "Griffin Line" of the railroad - beginning at Hartford's Union Station up to Windsor, CT (the end of our line) and back to Hartford over rare vintage trackage.


The following are recommended on your own tours. You plan it and do it.


7. Warehouse Point Trolley Museum - www.ceraonline.org - a bus tour to see and ride trolleys.


8. The Connecticut Eastern Railroad Museum - www.cteastrrmuseum.org/about.htm located at the original site of the Columbia Junction Freight Yard. The museum’s collection includes locomotives and rolling stock, as well as vintage railroad buildings and a six-stall roundhouse reconstructed on the original foundation. See their 60’ Armstrong turntable.
